two jobs? funeral director and?
Horticulturist. I run my own gardening business. I thought that I would have to fold my business in order to take up the position as a funeral director, however due to my hours I am currently able to work both jobs. However that may change in future. We'll see.
interesting. how did you know you wanted to be a funeral director?

If you said to me when I was at high school that within fifteen years I will have become a funeral director, I would have told you that you are full of shit. It wasn't a dream of mine when I was younger.

I have worked out that I have been to eleven funerals in past six years. I dare say that is higher than average for most people. By some quirk, the majority of these funerals were held by one firm (not the one I am working for). They always seemed to be there for me, my family or whoever was affected. I admired that and it just appealed to me. I decided that I wanted to help people. Bare in mind that due to the ongoing drought and water restrictions in my home state, my gardening business was suffereing badly. I have been doing it for nearly a decade and I was getting tired of the same old work. The drought just helped me make a decision to go in a completely new direction. So when I noticed the ad appear in my local paper I jumped at it. Two arduous interviews and over a fortnight of waiting I finally got the job.
